4260 WEST MARGINAL WAY SW

June 15, 2017: General Recycling of Washington needs to maintain the dock at their facility on the Duwamish River. This includes replacing up to ten 12-inch fender piles each year, and other minor repairs , such as replacing pile caps, surfacing repairs, and whaler and caulk replacement, over the next five years (October 2017- February 2023). Bent steel or damaged wood fender piles will be replaced with 12-inch diameter steel piles. Piles will be removed and replaced using a vibratory hammer (no impact driving will occur). Pile driving activities are expected to occur over a maximum of three weeks in any given year. Pile driving is expected to take three to five days during that three weeks. All work will occur in the Duwamish River near the dock. Equipment and materials will be brought in via barge. The barge(s) will be anchored using spud piles. A staging and sequencing plan will be developed with the contractor. In-water work will adhere to agency-approved (WDFW and USACE) work windows.
In order to minimize temporary impacts to the aquatic environment, work below the ordinary high water mark (OHWM) is proposed to occur between October and February of each year.
