March 11, 2019: This project is part of a non-profit effort to collect previously untreated stormwater runoff from the Aurora Bridge and route it through a bioretention facility prior to discharge to the public storm system. Stormwater runoff is currently collected from the bridge through a series of downspouts that connect to the public storm system. Runoff from a highly utilized highway such as the SR 99 contains a multitude of pollutants that are harmful to the ecosystem in and around Lake Union. The goal of this project is to treat this stormwater and ultimately improve the water quality of the surrounding areas.
