Dec. 22, 2019: Temporary Use for one day event TYPE I construction permit; not TYPE II land use to allow more that 1,000 attendees to event per conditioning on previous permit. slm LU Intake

Applicant narrative:
I was advised via your email service to apply for a "temporary land use permit". Seattle Children's Book Festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization looking to hold a free community event on the Ingraham High School grounds. Ingraham High has a master use permit that the city issued them that states that when the field, auditorium and gym are all scheduled, they can only have a maximum total on site of 1,000 attendees and participants for events due to the parking. We are looking for a temporary use permit that would allow us to exceed that. Our event is likely to have approximately 7,000 attendees (a max of around 3,000 at any given time). It would be a one time event on Saturday August 8th, 2020 open to the public from 11am to 4pm. The Seattle School District Property Managers are concerned because -- in their words: "the adjacent neighbors formed a coalition and filed an appeal for the construction of the field and the Hearing Examiner conditioned our permit for the facility. Part of that agreement with the adjacent neighbors that we would not schedule multiple events. This is a standard agreement we have at four of our schools. It would be up to you to get a waiver in writing from SDCI saying you are exempt from the ruling of the Hearing Examiner for the project construction." When I shared this via your email Q and A service they suggested that a "Temporary Land Use Permit" from SDCI would satisfy that Seattle Public Schools requirement.

I made my best guesses to the Project Information questions below. Thank you!
