Sept. 13, 2024: The Sisters of Providence are looking their retirement home by updating the infrastructural systems. Their facility occupies the western portion of a property that also houses the Providence Mount Saint Vincent Retirement Center located on the eastern portion of this property. The Sisters own the complete property and provide a ground lease to the Mount Saint Vincent Retirement Center. This infrastructure update is also in response to the requirements of the Clean Building initiative which became law in 2019. Both buildings share a common energy plant. Since these two facilities are owned by separate entities, it is not certain that both entities would follow that same strategy to comply with the requirements of this law. The Sisters are therefore considering decoupling from the shared energy plant and building their own systems to meet this requirement as one possible scenario. The other scenario is to address the application of Clean Building requirements for both entities on the property.
