July 8, 2025: Washington State Ferries proposes to install electrical equipment to support future operation of hybrid diesel-electric ferry vessels at the Seattle Terminal on Elliott Bay. The project includes installing the following components: electrical equipment on the uplands at Pier 48 to connect to existing Seattle City Light electrical feeders; two submarine conduits in Elliott Bay from Pier 48 uplands to the Seattle Terminal pier; new decking on the Seattle Terminal pier to support on-deck electrical equipment within new protective canopies; two in-water vessel charging system (VCS) platforms to support hybrid vessels at Seattle Terminal Slips 1 and 3; protective dolphins for the VCS platforms; and two overwater catwalks to allow maintenance access from the pier to the VCS platforms. Also included is removal of two existing floating concrete dolphins and timber debris from the seafloor. See submitted project narrative and site plan for additional details.
