May 23, 2026: We are working with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife on a restoration project of a stretch of Thornton creek that runs through our condo property. The project is to remove three old and decaying weirs (very small log structures) and rocks on either side of the creek. The logs and Rocks together are creating erosion. The plan is to remove the Wiers and rocks and mitigate 6 small erosion zones (at each end of the three weirs) by adding spawning gravel, ground cover, shrubs, and few trees.
