Feb. 9, 2018: Newport Villa Condominiums Flood Wall Design. Newport Villa Condominiums is a 40-unit association managed by a member selected Homeowners Association (HOA) board. Along the western edge of the property, an open drainage channel conveys stormwater runoff north across the property. This channel has flooded 2 residential units in 2007 and 7 units in 2014. Structural flooding was observed to be at least 8 inches deep in the living quarters of the units during the 2014 event. A hydraulic analysis was conducted evaluate channel improvement options to prevent flooding, and the HOA is proposing to build a flood wall to isolate the conveyance channel from the residential structures.
