Sept. 13, 2018: Crown Castle I-405 Park N Ride Relo. This proposed wireless communications project is necessitated from WSDOTs plans to expand certain portions of I-405 within the City of Bellevue. Specifically WSDOTs plans to expand I-405 at Exit 9 and construct a new multi-story parking garage/transit hub at the current site of the Newport Hill Park N Ride at 5115 113th Pl SE. There are five (5) existing 50ft tall telecommunication stealth poles at the Newport Hills Park N Ride Facility that will be displaced by the new WSDOT transit facility. As the key lessor of these existing poles Crown Castle was instructed by WSDOT to collaborate with the four (4) carriers leasing space on the existing poles to decommission the five (5) existing poles and permanently relocate the carriers to two new multi-tenant poles with a consolidated equipment area. WSDOT also intends to locate equipment at the proposed new location. As the proposed location for this project is within an R-4 zone, a CUP application for this project, and this preapplication conference is required pursuant to LUC 20.10, 20.20.195(A)(4) and 20.35.020 respectively. Project permits for the decommissioning of the removal of the five existing towers at the Newport Hills Park N Ride -and needed temporary facilities- will be applied for separately. This CUP application is only for construction of the two (2) proposed new towers and equipment.
