Feb. 28, 2020: Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) Project. The proposed project is a partial remodel of the 6th floor of the West Parking Garage (WPG). The existing open-air, above-ground garage was initially constructed in the mid-1980s. The 6th floor was added and built out as an I-2 childbirth center and has operated as such until now. The proposed project will convert part of the floor into a voluntary-admission inpatient behavioral health unit. The balance of the floor will be minimally changed so it can function as a separate med/surg inpatient unit. This project is part of the multi-phase Project FutureCare on campus. Level 6 is approximately 32,800 sf in size. This area will be split into a new 14-bed Behavioral Health unit (approx.12,000 sf) and a minimally remodeled 27-bed Reserve unit (approx. 21,000 sf). The Reserve unit consists of single-occupant patient rooms that were formerly post-partum rooms. The floor will remain I-2 occupancy.
