June 10, 2021: King Co. - Lake Hills Interceptor Rehabilitation Phase II. The LHI Project will rehabilitate a 7,200-foot portion of an existing interceptor in North Bellevue. The Lake Hills Interceptor is a large-diameter, reinforced-concrete sewer, and has experienced severe corrosion on the interior pipe walls caused by exposure to hydrogen sulfide gas. The interceptor is over 50 years old, and needs to be relined to avoid failure, overflow, and disruption of services. The portion of the existing interceptor that is part of the LHI Project consists of 48-inch and 54-inch pipe, and the goal is to extend the useful life of the pipeline for another 50 years. The project will include small work areas at existing maintenance holes and bypass during the work in the pipeline.
