June 14, 2021: The Firs Apartments. The existing site includes two, two-story apartment buildings, a single-story apartment unit, and four covered parking areas. The owner intends to renovate the existing 25-unit for low-income transitional housing. The preliminary design proposes the addition of a two-story Resident Services Building (approximately 2,900 sf), which will contain support services, food pantry, meeting rooms, common laundry, and offices for the residents. Unit mix includes (17) 1-bedroom units & (8) 2-bedroom units. Renovations to the existing building and site aim to make (8) ground floor units and the building entries fully accessible. On-site improvements include ramps and play areas appropriate for children in a range of ages. The site is located on the corner of SE 16th Street & 148th Ave SE. The surrounding properties include single family homes to the north, west, and south; and the Robinwood Office Park to the east. Access to the property will be through an existing drive on the north side of the property via SE 16th Street. On-site parking will be provided for 25 vehicles.
