Nov. 17, 2021: Eastrail, Wilburton Segment, I-405 to SE 1st St.. The Project will construct trail improvements, including repurposing the Wilburton Trestle, for a segment of a regional trail in a railbanked corridor. The Project includes work at two locations in the corridor: a one-half mile section from the eastern boundary of the WSDOT I-405 right-of-way to SE 5th Street, and a separate signalized crossing of SE 1st Street. This work includes repair of timber piling and framing on the existing historic Wilburton Trestle, renovation of the trail surface on top of the trestle with viewing platforms and lighting, pedestrian crossing improvements at SE 5th and SE 1st Streets, an interim parking lot at SE 5th Street, temporary construction access routes, removal of trees under and adjacent to the trestle and restoration of temporary impacts to critical area buffers.
