Feb. 22, 2022: COBU Vasa Creek/SE Newport Way Culvert Long Term Repair. The project will replace the gabion mattresses that provided temporary energy dissipation as part of the emergency culvert repairs (installed in 2021 under Bellevue clear and grade permit # 21 101511 GD) with long-term creek bed restoration. About 45 feet/656 square feet of streambed and about 10 square feet of stream buffer will be modified with cobbles, boulders and large woody debris to dissipate flood energy and improve fish habitat. The Project will also include native plantings and channelize sumps of existing maintenance structures on either end of the Vasa Creek culvert to promote bedload transport through the system.
