May 12, 2023:
SOM-16 REPLACE POLES. PSE plans to perform routine maintenance of its existing utility lines within the City of Bellevue. This work will include the replacement of two existing utility poles within the Shoreline Jurisdiction of Lake Washington.
Pole 1 (P01) is located along Hazelwood Ln. across from 6023 Hazelwood Ln in a raised armored hummock within an asphalt parking area. Pole 2 (P02) is located at 5615 Pleasure Point Ln. The road bisects the 5615 Pleasure Point Ln. property and Pole 2 is located to the east of the road while the home and shoreline are located to the west of the road. This pole is within a steep slope.
Puget Sound Energy contracted Icicle Creek Engineers to conduct a geotechnical evaluation of Pole 2 and to ensure that replacing it would not compromise the slope or have permanent impacts to the critical area.
Both poles are located within the Shoreline Jurisdiction, but are exempt from obtaining a Shoreline Substantial Development Permit according to Bellevue Municipal Code 20.25E.170.C.2, as the work is the normal maintenance or repair of existing structure. Furthermore, while Pole 2 is located within a steep slope, a critical area permit is not required according to Bellevue City code 20.25H.055B.1 as this is a temporary disturbance that will not increase impacts to or negatively affect the critical area.
At the completion of the project all areas of temporary disturbance associated with the work shall be restored to pre-project conditions.
