May 22, 2023: Possible Addition. Hi! We were going to waterproof some stairs and the deck area above our existing garage, however in starting the work, discovered a lot of dry rot. We have been thinking about adding a level above the garage and now have also discovered that this garage is on slab foundation which wouldn''t accommodate a second floor. Now, we are wondering if we should just tear down this garage bay and rebuild it with the a foundation with footings, or continue to repair this garage. My concerns are that if we tear down the garage, we couldn''t rebuild it for whatever reason. Or that we wouldn''t be able to add on top of that new garage anyway.
