COBU - Bellefield Siphon Replacement - Geotechnical. The proposed project includes geotechnical explorations needed to identify soil conditions and install groundwater monitoring wells at 2 proposed locations for the proposed Bellefield Siphon Replacement Project. The Bellefield Siphon Project includes the replacement of the existing inverted siphon as the primary used conveyance pipe.
Proposed work includes 2 geotechnical explorations to aid design of the proposed Bellefield Siphon Replacement Project. There would be a total of 2 borings located at: (1) the west side of the Mercer Slough West, and (2) the east side of the Mercer Slough West. Each boring will be advanced, using a track-mounted Mobile B-57 drill rig and mud-rotary drilling methods, to a depth of 50 feet. Soil samples will be obtained in conjunction with standard penetration tests at 2.5-foot intervals in the upper 20 feet and at 5-foot intervals thereafter. Each boring will include a work area of about 1,000 square feet and include an observation well for measuring groundwater depths.
