Nov. 12, 2024: COBU - Coal Creek Channel Off-Site Sediment Pond. The City of Bellevue built the Coal Creek Off-Site Channel Sediment Pond (Anna's Pond) in 2016 for flood control and sediment detention, but it is currently not functioning as designed. Lower than expected flows enter the pond due to sediment accumulation and potential issues with the inlet weir's gasket seals. This causes variable flow conditions and high water short-circuiting during high-flow events. These issues not only complicate pond maintenance due to the leaking gaskets, but affect the overall sediment deposition. This project proposes to remedy site conditions and consider opportunities to improve fish passage downstream near the pond's outlet. Construction will require work in Coal Creek, associated wetland, and wetland stream buffer. Activities include grading (cut and fill), installing new weir inlet (concrete), relocating pond outlet, placing large woody material, installing native plantings, and restoring and improving maintenance access.
