March 31, 2025: Midlakes Substation Upgrade Project. Puget Sound Energy (PSE) plans to increase distribution capacity at the Midlakes Substation to meet Bellevue's growing power needs. Within the existing substation yard, PSE is proposing to relocate the existing distribution transformer and install a second transformer as well as replace the fence, lighting, and drainage to meet PSE standards. Approximately 5.5 miles of distribution feeder maintenance is proposed as part of this project. The project involves replacing existing electrical cables in new conduit. Work will be done mostly within the road right-of-way. The project will require tree removals on the substation site in order to address needed vegetation maintenance and safety concerns at the site. PSE is proposing to remove the 29 trees along the north and west sides of the substation.
