April 8, 2026: PSE Lakeside Pole Replacments. PSE proposes to replace aging existing utility poles within the Mercer Slough Nature Park wetland complex area along an old ROW corridor. The Project involves replacing five poles with four poles. Two poles will be replaced in the same locations, while the additional two poles will be adjusted so that the transmission line can cross the wetland and eliminate one of the existing poles. Replacement pole heights will also be adjusted so the transmission line can cross the wetland with one less pole PSE proposes geotechnical investigations within the wetland complex to obtain soil samples and needed to design foundations and replacement poles. PSEs contractor will drill 1 to 2 eight inch diameter borings at the proposed new pole locations. All the borings will be outside of the OHWM, but with the wetland complex. To minimize wetland impacts, an amphibious marsh master approximately 20 feet wide and 35 feet long will complete the boring. PSE anticipates the need to cut a 25 ft wide path of vegetation in order to allow access. The workers will use a smaller swamp buggy to safely access to and from the boring locations. Additionally, potholing is expected to be needed in order to locate a King County sewer main which is also located in the project vicinity. While pole heights are increasing, the Project is located within an existing utility corridor and will reduce the total number of poles within the wetland complex.
